一 十二月一日 六時半過ぎ御供揃い、御座の間御縁側から山里通り御往来とも入られ運正寺へ。威徳院様御霊前御廟とも御参拝あり、御帰殿四時へ一寸前。当日一統の御礼をお受けになった。揩五郎様も五時半御供揃い運正寺御参詣、御帰第の上、毎度の通り御対顔に入られた。

To Lady Teisho-in: Military register, one copy (as promised directly yesterday when visiting her residence, sent with accompanying letter to Tsuda Shirōzaemon)
1. December 1st - After 6:30, retinue assembled, proceeding from the formal chamber's veranda through the mountain village path to Unshōji Temple. Paid respects at Lady Itokuin's memorial altar and mausoleum, returning to the palace just before 4 o'clock. Received formal greetings from all on this day. Lord Kai-gorō also assembled his retinue at 5:30 for pilgrimage to Unshōji Temple, and upon returning to his residence, had the customary audience.
1. December 2nd - Hawking expedition held, and upon returning to the palace, entered the formal chamber to view the presented ducks.

1. This morning, the monthly duty officer at the Council Chamber was summoned. When Kobei came off night duty, he was handed an official document stating that although the seven-year installment plan's term doesn't expire until next year of the Sheep, exemption will be granted from next year, and furthermore, year-end allowances will be provided to all retainers down to the lowest ranks. This was announced by Matsudaira Shume's office. For the formal thanks, only Kobei alone attended from the scribes' office and duty officers.
