間の御次へ帰座され、御□が出て夜分になり御膳が出て相済み、ここで御入りになり御菓子等が出された。御入り中は御袴をお召しになって入られた。右の通りすべて御用人が取り扱った。
一、二月二十四日、飛脚が着いた 御通箱入りの御菓子
右は姫君様から進められた

一、二月二十七日、八時揃いで本多内蔵助方の土始め。御家老・御中老・御用人・御役人・御懇意の隠居に御酒・御吸物・御夜食を下された。御次第は左の通り。本多内蔵助方を始め相揃った段を申し上げ、揃いを仰せ出された。内蔵助方を始め御家老中・本多路夕まで御座の間二の間へ着座し、その段を申し上げ、上の御間へ入られ《割書：ただし御袴をお召しになり》御逢いされ《割書：御用人が御先立ち》、時候の御意があり、直ちに御引き取りされた。この節、内蔵助を始め御座の間・上の間へ繰り上がり席付きがあった。ここへ御煙草盆が出され御茶が出された。御中老・御用人・御役人・御懇意の隠居まで追々罷り出て、二の間から御正面を折れ曲がり御槍掛けの間へ掛け、皆も御列座し御煙草盆・御茶が出された。引き続き御吸物掛け、盃・御銚子二通、それから三つ組の御盃が出され御肴三種が出され、追々頂戴があった。内、上の間へ入られ《割書：御先立ちなく御袴をお召しにならず》、暫く御話等をされ御程合いで御意《割書：ゆるりと》があり御引き取りされた。暮れ時前に御酒・御肴・御吸物の膳を引き、御夜食の膳が出され、皆も頂戴が相済み御茶が出された。また御座の間へ入られ《割書：御用人が御先立ち。この節御袴をお召しになるべきところ、御家老中から御辞退につき御袴をお召しにならなかった》、一統が御礼を申し上げた。この節御意《割書：粗末》があり御引き取りされ皆も退去した。ただし御匙・医師一人に御相伴があった。今日の御給仕は御近習番。御前が御引き取りされた内は御槍掛けの間の分の御給仕に奥御坊主が相加わる。当番御医師も御取り持ちに罷り出る。右頂戴の内、御側向頭取が罷り出て御酒を相勧め御肴等を取り計らい、すべて繰り出し等を取り計らった。

1. February 27th, at 8 o'clock assembly for Honda Kuranosuke's groundbreaking ceremony. Sake, soup, and evening meal were bestowed upon senior retainers, middle elders, chamberlains, officials, and intimate retired retainers. The procedure was as follows: reported that Honda Kuranosuke's party and others had assembled, assembly was ordered. From Kuranosuke's party to senior retainers including Honda Rojū, all seated in the second room of the audience chamber. This was reported and entry to the upper chamber was made 《side note: however wearing hakama》 for audience 《side note: chamberlain leading》, seasonal greetings were exchanged, then immediately withdrew. At this time, starting with Kuranosuke, they moved up to the audience chamber and upper room with seating arrangements. Tobacco trays and tea were served here. Middle elders, chamberlains, officials, and intimate retired retainers gradually appeared, proceeding from the second room around the front and hanging in the spear-hanging room, all seated in rows with tobacco trays and tea served. Continuing with soup service, sake cups and two sake bottles, then triple-set sake cups were brought out with three kinds of appetizers, gradually partaken. Meanwhile, entry to the upper room 《side note: no escort, not wearing hakama》, brief conversation and at an appropriate time words 《side note: at leisure》 were spoken and withdrawal made. Before evening, sake, appetizers, and soup dishes were cleared and evening meal trays brought out, all partaken and tea served. Again entry to the audience chamber 《side note: chamberlain leading. At this time hakama should have been worn, but due to declination from senior retainers, hakama was not worn》, all offered thanks. At this time words 《side note: humble》 were spoken, withdrawal made and all departed. However, there was accompaniment by one spoon-bearer and physician. Today's service was by the close attendant guard. While the lord had withdrawn, the service for the spear-hanging room was joined by inner monks. The duty physician also appeared to assist. During the above reception, the chief attendant appeared to offer sake and arrange appetizers, arranging all service etc.
