現代語訳
儀式のため御膳を進上した旨を申し上げ、御手慰みだけを下された。終わって御傅役永見主殿が出席し、若殿様から右同断のため御猟の御肴を進上した旨を申し上げて退座した。それから姫君様をはじめ御方々様から中元の御祝儀の御使いをお受けになった。この時の御召し物は染御帷子、御重、半御上下であった。
一、四時過ぎに謙五郎様が入られ、御小座敷でお会いになった。それから御同道で大奥へ入られ、御方々様の中元の御祝儀、御生身魂の御祝儀の御目録を取り交わされたとのこと。終わって大奥御拝をなされた。御召し物は前条の通り。
一、今日若殿様から進上された御猟の御肴は左の通り

右は御先代様の御例により大奥へ下された。ただし御吸物にて。
一、暮時過ぎに再び大奥御拝をなされた。御召し物は染御帷子、御重、御上下。
一、七月十六日、一昨十四日から盆中は御家老の出勤はなし。御中老は今日だけ出勤なし。もっとも例年この通り。
一、先達て箏姫様が直接約束されたという岡部南岳の画を御立用になりたいとのことで、明日御附御近習番の上月久三郎が出立するため、右の画（梅二幅対の御掛軸）を持参し、外に江戸表にある御掛物の内、啓書記筆の布袋竪物一幅、都合二箱を福山藤右衛門が取り計らい鍛冶橋へ回すよう、奥之番から鈴木百助、大藤助蔵方へ書状を添えて差し越した。
一、七月十八日夜、御詩作をなされ、当番の恭斉が出席した。ただしこれより前後、御詩作は度々あったこと。

右は今日謙五郎様の御柔術御稽古をなされるのを御覧に入られたため、御持参として進上しようとの思し召しであったが、御日柄のため明朝御長鮑と共に回すよう仰せ付けられ、御膳番が取り計らった【ここまで朱書き】
一、七月二十日飛脚到着。若殿様の御機嫌御用状、御日記を上月久右衛門が持参し、御覧になった。
一、御中臈さとが不快のため引き込み養生したいとの旨を、袖野方並びに山本正伯が相談したため、お聞き入れになった。
一、七月二十三日、御城下廻りで明里御蔵を御覧になった。御蔵奉行が出席し、御案内を申し上げた。

一、御拝領の内御下緒二掛 右は今夕元御座所へ入られ、謙五郎様の【挿入】一匁玉、三匁玉、六匁玉を中根新六が打った【ここまで挿入】鉄砲御試しがあるのを御一緒に御覧になった。その際の御持参として進上された。
二十八日
一、追々御家中の武芸御覧の節、謙五郎様もお入りになり御同様に御覧になるよう仰せ出されたのをありがたく思し召され、御礼のため加藤又一郎が出席した【ここまで朱書き】
一、七月二十九日七半時過ぎに御茶事を御覧になった。小島知策、玉村恵斎、大橋左渓が出席した。知策へ薄茶、恵斎へ濃茶、左渓へ炭を仰せ付けられた。もっとも御囲いで御覧になった。御刀掛けは御囲い外に出し置き、御脇指掛けは御囲い内へ出し、御両刀共に御掛けになった。新右衛門一人が御囲い中へ入った。

They then proceeded together to the inner quarters, where gift lists for the mid-summer festival congratulations and living soul celebration were exchanged with the ladies. These were given to the inner quarters following the precedent of the previous lord, prepared as soup.

1. Previously, Princess Koto had directly requested the use of paintings by Okabe Nangaku. Tomorrow, when the attached attendant guard Kozuki Kyusaburo departs, he will carry these paintings (a pair of plum blossom hanging scrolls), plus from the hanging scrolls in Edo, one vertical Hotei painting by Keishoki, totaling two boxes. Fukuyama Toemon arranged for these to be sent to Kajibashi, with letters sent from the inner quarters attendants to Suzuki Hyakusuke and Daito Sukekura.
