"Yamato Honzō" (Japanese Materia Medica) states:
Kishin-sō (Devil's needle grass) Oni-sai "Sancai Tuhui" (Illustrated Compendium of the Three Realms)
Its fruit resembles a needle and also resembles scissors, and readily adheres to people's clothing
There is separately gyojin-sō (tiger ear grass) but this is different
