浄光院様太左衛門妻も信州へ
被 召連度由 御意被成候へ共
三歳ニ罷成候忰御座候ニ付御供仕候
義難相成夫故御奉公も難仕

浄光院様御意ニハ人数之御外
聞ニ可被遊候間御見届ケニ参候様ニ
と之 御意御座候而其上何人忰

一、元和元年巳年十月、土津様が信州高遠へ入られ候節、見性院様から遣わされ候男女には、御守分として万荘権九郎殿と申す人これは見性院様の御爪端に候、御小性分には有泉新左衛門歳十五に罷り成り候、御草履取として「でく虎若」と申す者何れも十一歳計りに候、総じて元服仕り候者には太左衛門一人に候。この節、浄光院様は太左衛門の妻も信州へ召し連れたい由の御意を成され候えども、三歳に罷り成り候忰が御座候につき御供仕る義成り難く、それ故御奉公も仕り難き旨申し上げ候ところ、浄光院様の御意には「人数の御外聞に遊ばされるべく候間、御見届けに参り候様に」との御意御座候て、その上「何人忰を持ち候とも」

1. In Genna 1, year of the snake, 10th month, when Dotsusama entered Takato in Shinshū Province, among the men and women sent by Kenshōin-sama were: as guardian, a person called Banshō Gonkurō-dono, who was among Kenshōin-sama's personal attendants; as page, Ariizumi Shinzaemon who had reached fifteen years of age; as sandal-bearer, one called "Deku Torawaka," all of whom were about eleven years old. Among those who had undergone the coming-of-age ceremony, there was only Tazaemon. At this time, Jōkōin-sama expressed the intention to take Tazaemon's wife to Shinshū as well, but since [Tazaemon] had a son who was three years old, it would be difficult for [his wife] to serve as attendant, and therefore it would be difficult for her to serve. When this was reported, Jōkōin-sama's words were: "Since this will affect the reputation regarding the number of people, [she] should come for inspection," and furthermore, "No matter how many sons anyone has..."
