右（みぎ）中山（ちうざん）世系（せいけい）の略（りやく）なり、これは琉球（りうきう）尚貞王（しやうていわう）の時、
尚弘徳（しやうこうとく）と云（いふ）ものに命（めい）じて、撰（せん）するところの、中山
世譜（せいふ）に据（よ）りて記（しる）すところなり、
鎮西八郎為朝（ちんぜいはちらうためとも）
鎮西八郎為朝（ちんぜいはちらうためとも）、伊豆（いづ）の大島（おほしま）に流（なが）されしが、永（えい）万 元年（ぐわんねん）
三月（さんぐわつ）、白鷺（しろさぎ）の沖（おき）の方（かた）へ飛（とび）行（ゆ）くを見（み）て、定（さだ）めて島ぞ
あるらんとて、舟（ふね）に乗（の）りて馳（は）せ行（ゆ）くに、ある島（しま）に
着（つき）てめぐり給ふに、田もなし畠（はた）もなし、汝（なんぢ）等（ら）何（なに）
を食事（しよくじ）とすると問（と）へば、魚（うを）鳥とこたふ、その鳥（とり）は鵯（ひよどり）
ほどなり、為朝これを見（み）給ひて、大鏑（おほかぶら）の矢（や）にて、木（き）
にあるを射（い）落（おと）し、空（そら）を翔（かけ）るを射殺（いころ）しなどし給へば、
島（しま）のものども舌（した）をふるひておぢ恐（おそ）る、汝（なんぢ）等（ら）も我（われ）に
従（したが）はずは、かくの如（ごと）く射殺（いころ）さんと宣（のたま）へば、みな平伏（ひれふし）
て従（したが）ひけり、島（しま）の名（な）を問（とひ）たまへば、鬼（おに）が島（しま）と申す、《割書：保｜元》

右は中山王統の系譜の概略である。これは琉球の尚貞王の時代に、尚弘徳という人物に命じて編纂させた「中山世譜」に基づいて記したものである。
鎮西八郎為朝
鎮西八郎為朝は、伊豆の大島に流刑となったが、永万元年（1165年）三月、白鷺が沖の方へ飛んでいくのを見て、「きっと島があるに違いない」と思い、舟に乗って追いかけていくと、ある島に着いた。その島を巡って見ると、田もなく畠もない。「お前たちは何を食べているのか」と問うと、「魚と鳥です」と答える。その鳥はヒヨドリほどの大きさであった。為朝はこれを見て、大鏑の矢で木にいる鳥を射落とし、空を飛んでいるものを射殺したりしたので、島の人々は震え上がって恐れた。「お前たちも私に従わなければ、このように射殺すぞ」と言うと、皆ひれ伏して従った。島の名前を尋ねると、「鬼が島」と申した。《割書：保元物語》この為朝が渡った鬼が島というのは、すなわち今の琉球国のことである。こうして国の人々はその武勇に恐れをなして服従した。

The above is an outline of the genealogy of the Chūzan royal line. This was recorded based on the "Chūzan Seifu" (Genealogy of Chūzan), which was compiled during the reign of King Shō Tei of Ryukyu by a man named Shō Kōtoku at the king's command.
Chinzei Hachirō Tametomo
Chinzei Hachirō Tametomo had been exiled to Ōshima in Izu. In the first year of Eiman (1165), in the third month, he saw white herons flying toward the open sea and thought, "There must surely be an island there." He boarded a boat and sailed after them until he reached an island. When he went around the island, there were no rice fields or dry fields. When he asked, "What do you eat?" they answered, "Fish and birds." The birds were about the size of brown-eared bulbuls. Tametomo, seeing this, used large turnip-head arrows to shoot down birds perched in trees and kill those flying in the sky. The island people trembled with fear. When he declared, "If you do not submit to me, I will shoot you down in the same way," they all prostrated themselves and submitted. When he asked the name of the island, they said it was called "Oni-ga-shima" (Demon Island). 《Marginal note: Hōgen Monogatari》This Demon Island to which Tametomo crossed is none other than the present-day Ryukyu Kingdom. Thus the people of the country feared his martial prowess and submitted to him.
