州の蚕が諸国において優れていると聞き、千里の遠きを厭わずして
そこへ赴き、多くの日数を滞在して、その水土の適性を観察し、その殖
養の方法を学んで故郷に帰った。そして気多郡納屋村の
水浜が奥州の土地と
似ていることから、その
地に居を構え、学んだ方法を用いて桑を植え蚕を養い、ともによく繁
殖させた。そこで蚕種を作り、国中で販売したところ、人々は皆これを

集記録して三巻とし、『養蚕秘録』と名付けた。これを
世に公開して、多くの人々に精しくその方法を知らしめようと欲するのである。私に
序文を求められたので、私はこれを見て喜んだ。四方の国の養蚕の地で
人がすでにその方法を知っていても、もしこの書によってその技

Having heard that the silkworms of that province were superior among all provinces, he did not consider the thousand-ri distance too far and
went there, staying for many days to observe the suitability of the water and soil, learned the methods of cultivation, and returned to his hometown. Finding that the waterfront of Naya Village in Keta District
resembled the land of Ōshū,
he established his residence in that
place, and using the methods he had learned, planted mulberry trees and raised silkworms, successfully allowing both to proliferate. He then created silkworm eggs and sold them throughout the country, and people all came to regard them as

recording them into three volumes, naming it "Secret Records of Sericulture." His desire was to
make this public to the world, enabling many people to gain precise knowledge of these methods. When asked to write a preface, I was pleased to see this work. In sericulture regions throughout the four directions,
even if people already know the methods, should they master the subtleties
of the techniques through this book, they can benefit even more without oversight or omission. Even people in lands that have not yet practiced sericulture,
though they may not yet know the methods, if they also seek through this book
those techniques
