　為に諭（さと）す又蚕の字は音忝（おんてん）にして蚯蚓（みゝづ）也俗用ひて
　《振り仮名：蚕｜さん｜カイコ》の字とするは非也然ども誤り用ること淹（ひさ）し襲（よつ）て
　俗に随ふ余は皆此に倣（なら）へ得失を演（のべ）て安民ならしめ
　高雅（かうが）を要とせず蚕 業（ぎやう）此書に拠（よ）らば家を興（おこす）の
　益あらん歟 覧者（みんひと）杜撰（づざん）を陋（ろふ）することなかれ

現代語訳

【右丁】
　ために諭している。また蚕の字は音読みで「てん」であり、蚯蚓（みみず）のことである。俗に用いて
　蚕（さん・カイコ）の字とするのは間違いである。しかしながら誤用することが長く続き、
　俗習に従う。他は皆これに倣え。得失を述べて民を安らかにし、
　高雅さを必要としない。蚕業がこの書に拠れば、家を興すための
　利益があるだろうか。読者は杜撰さを軽蔑してはならない。

　for instructing them. Moreover, the character for "silkworm" is pronounced "ten" and refers to earthworms. Using it colloquially
　as the character for "san/kaiko" (silkworm) is incorrect. However, this misuse has continued for a long time, following
　popular custom. All others should follow this example. Explaining gains and losses to bring peace to the people,
　without requiring high elegance. If sericulture follows this book, would there be
　benefits for establishing households? Readers should not despise its rough nature.
