ここに安政二年
十月二日の夜
大地震（おほぢしん）ありて
家（いへ）たをれ
蔵（くら）くづるゝを
おびたゞしく
猶（なほ）死亡（しぼう）の人（ひと）多（おほ）かる
中（なか）にけがもなく
あやうき命（いのち）を
たすかりたる
人々（ひと〴〵）は伊勢（いせ）
太神宮（だいじんぐう）の
御たすけ也
その故（ゆゑ）は
彼時（かのとき）御馬
御府内（こふない）を
はせめぐり
信心（しん〴〵）の輩（ともがら）を
すくひ玉ふにや
たすかりし人々（ひと〳〵）の衣類（いるゐ）の袂（たもと）に
神馬（じんめ）の毛（け）入（いり）てある
といふをきゝてその人々
あらため見るにはたして
馬（うま）の毛（け）出（いづ）る也 是（これ）こそ
大御神（おほんかみ）の守（まも）らしむる所なりと云々

現代語訳
ここに安政二年十月二日の夜、大地震があって、家が倒れ、蔵が崩れることがおびただしく、なお死亡の人も多かった。その中で怪我もなく、危うい命を助かった人々は、伊勢大神宮のお助けである。
その理由は、あの時、御馬が江戸府内を駆け巡り、信心深い人々を救ってくださったのであろうか。助かった人々の衣類の袂に神馬の毛が入っているということを聞いて、その人々が改めて見ると、果たして馬の毛が出てくるのである。これこそ大御神がお守りくださった所以なのだと云々。
「神様が出てはおれたちは敵わない。早く逃げ出せ、逃げ出せ」
「ああ痛い、痛い。もうもう出ません。ごめん、ごめん」
英語訳
Here, on the night of the second day of the tenth month of Ansei 2 (1855), there was a great earthquake, and countless houses collapsed and storehouses crumbled, with many people dying. Among them, those who escaped unharmed and were saved from mortal peril were helped by Ise Daijingu (Grand Shrine of Ise).
The reason is that at that time, the sacred horse galloped around Edo, apparently saving the faithful believers. When people heard that horse hair from the divine horse was found in the sleeves of the clothing of those who were saved, these people examined their clothes and indeed found horse hair. This is surely proof that the Great Divine Spirit protected them, and so on.
"Now that the deity has appeared, we cannot match them. Quickly flee, flee!"
"Ah, it hurts, it hurts! I won't come out anymore. Forgive me, forgive me!"
