阿りて種肥貧しく秋冬乾潤ひなく種疲るは悪種也夏

替三四日過て晴たる日尓種を揚草菰の上又は藁越

あって種が肥えず貧しく、秋冬に乾燥して潤いがなく種が疲れるのは悪種である。夏に潤いがなく種の色が白けて、秋は潤いが出て種が肥えるのは良い種である。
△種は寒中に雪水を汲み、桶や盥の中に浸すべきである。次の日に水を替え、三四日過ぎて晴れた日に種を上げ、草菰の上または藁を敷いてその上に干すべきである。もっとも種の裏を日に向けるのである。夕方に乾いた紙で白く包み出して家の内の囲炉裏の辺りへ移し、竹を棚として高く干すべきである。火を焚くことは種へ火気が当たらないようにすべきである。種には忌むことが
多い。種の下に燈火あるいは火鉢を置くことはならない。また茶を煎じてはならない。およそ七八日も経てば種は干し上がるのである。その種を紙袋に入れ小箱の中へ蓄えるべきである。また寝間の裏板へ高く掛けるのも良い。金鉄の気を忌む。もし長持の内へ蓄える場合は必ず刀や脇指と同じく置いてはならない。その種は死ぬのである。茶をすすけば種は死ぬ。

△Seeds should be soaked in snow water drawn during the cold season, placed in buckets or basins. Change the water the next day, and after three or four days have passed, on a clear day, lift the seeds and dry them on grass mats or spread straw and place them on top. Most importantly, turn the underside of the seeds toward the sun.
