万モルゲンほどは不毛の礁石である。その田畑は肥沃であるけれども、鼠が非常に多く穀物の種を蒔くのを妨げるため、現地の人々はただ畜牧と野菜栽培によって生計を立てている。野牛の肉は最も美味とされ、また野獣や禽鳥も多くいるが、ただし樹木は乏しい。温泉が数カ所あり、気候は良好で清浄である。一つの府（町）をジェームズタウン、またはヤコブススタードと名付け、ヤコブ谷という所に置いている。その場所は島中で最も広く平らな土地である。

About ten thousand morgen consist of barren reef rock. Although the farmland is fertile, rats are extremely numerous and prevent the sowing of grain seeds, so the local people sustain themselves solely through livestock farming and vegetable cultivation. Wild cattle meat is considered most delicious, and there are also many wild beasts and birds, but trees are scarce. There are hot springs in several places, and the climate is good and clean. They have established a府 (town) called Jamestown, also known as Jacobsstad, in a place called Jacob's Valley. This location is the widest and flatest land on the island.
