英語訳

Add [the price of inferior rice] to the left, giving a total of 173 monme 1 bu.
Dividing the said 216 monme 8 bu by this amount yields
1 koku 2 to 5 shō 2 gō 4 shaku 5 sai of superior rice, as one finds.
The medium and inferior rice each increase by a factor of two relative to the superior rice.

《Title: Article 11 — On the Reduction of Rice in Bales (Tawara-mawashi)》
┃ There are 850 koku of rice. When 3 shō per koku is deducted as a measurement allowance (kantachi),
what does the total volume become?
Answer: It becomes 824 koku 5 to.
Method: Place 1 koku on the left; subtract 3 shō from it, leaving
9 to 7 shō. Multiply this by the said 850 koku.
┃ There are 5,370 bales (俵) of 4-to bales. Converting these into koku
by the "filled bale" (ari-tawara) measure, how much is there?
Answer: It becomes 2,148 koku.
