《第十五 銀両替の事》
■ 丁銀五百六十九匁あるとき、良い灰吹き（銀）を内二割引にして両替する時に、右の丁銀には灰吹き銀がいくらになるかというと、
灰吹き四百五十五匁二分という。
計算方法：右の五百六十九匁に八を掛ければ、灰吹き四百五十五匁二分と知れる。
○ 二割引のうらは「八を掛ける」計算。
（逆算、すなわち灰吹きから丁銀に戻す場合）は十二で割ると知れる。
○ 二割増しとは「十二を掛ける」こと。
（逆算の場合）は八で割ると知れる。

**【上巻三十六丁表】**
■ 灰吹き七百九十二匁があり、丁銀に、内二割増しにして右の灰吹き銀に対して丁銀がいくらになるかというと、
丁銀九百九十匁になるという。
計算方法：灰吹き七百九十二匁を八で割ると、丁銀九百九十匁と知れる。
■ 銀のまめ板（豆板銀）九百三十匁があるとき、丁銀に両替する時に、内三分引いて右のまめ板銀に対して丁銀がいくらになるかというと、
丁銀九百二匁一分になるという。
計算方法：十匁と左（仮）に置いて、この内三分引くと残りて九匁七分ある。これを右の九百三十匁に掛けるのである。

*Section 15: On the Exchange of Silver Currencies*
■ When one has 569 monme of *chōgin* (bar silver) and exchanges it into high-quality *haifuki* (cupellation silver) at a rate of 20% discount (inner two-tenths deduction), how much *haifuki* silver does one obtain from said *chōgin*?
Answer: 455 monme 2 fun of *haifuki*.
Method: Multiply the said 569 monme by 0.8 (i.e., eight [tenths]), and one will find 455 monme 2 fun of *haifuki*.
○ The inverse of a "20% discount" is to multiply by 8 [and move the decimal].
The reverse calculation (converting back from *haifuki* to *chōgin*) is to divide by 12 [tenths].
○ A "20% premium" means multiplying by 12 [tenths].
The reverse calculation is to divide by 8 [tenths].

■ When one has 792 monme of *haifuki* silver and wishes to convert it into *chōgin* at a 20% premium (inner two-tenths addition), how much *chōgin* does one obtain from said *haifuki*?
Answer: 990 monme of *chōgin*.
Method: Divide the 792 monme of *haifuki* by 0.8 (eight [tenths]), and one will find 990 monme of *chōgin*.
■ When one has 930 monme of *mameita gin* (bean-plate silver) and wishes to exchange it into *chōgin* at a 3% discount (inner three-tenths-of-a-tenth deduction), how much *chōgin* does said *mameita* silver yield?
Answer: 902 monme 1 fun of *chōgin*.
Method: Set 10 monme provisionally on the left; deducting 3 fun [i.e., 3%] from this leaves 9 monme 7 fun. Multiply this by the said 930 monme.
