【上巻卅七丁裏】
右のさんあわぬしようこ是にあり
┃あるひは金七匁四分八り有を判（はん）金の相（さう）場（は）
銀五百目かへの時五百目を四十四匁てわれは
金壱匁￣ニ付銀十一匁三分六り三毛六／糸（し）六／忽（こつ）つゝに
あたる成これに右の金七匁四分八りをかくれは
銀八拾四匁九分九り九毛九糸五忽になる也
如此にてま入てあわすしてあしきさん也

【上巻三十七丁裏】
右の計算が合わない証拠がここにある。
あるいは金七匁四分八厘があり、一分判金の相場が
銀五百匁替えの時、五百匁を四十四匁で割れば、
金一匁につき銀十一匁三分六厘三毛六糸六忽ずつに
あたることになる。これに右の金七匁四分八厘を掛ければ、
銀八十四匁九分九厘九毛九糸五忽になるのである。
このように端数が入って合わないので、悪い計算である。
右の上の計算、金七匁四分八厘を一分判金の相場五百匁
替えにして、右の金に銀がどれほどになるかというと、
銀八十五匁という。
【上巻三十八丁表】
計算の方法として、金七匁四分八厘に相場五百匁を掛ければ
三七四（三百七十四）になる。これを四十四匁で割れば、八十五匁と
分かる。右、これが良い計算である。この考え方は
万事に応用できて良い。
銀二百匁がある時、一分判金の相場が五百匁替えにして、
右の銀に金がどれほどになるかというと、
金十七匁六分になるという。
計算の方法として、銀二百匁を右に置き、四十四匁を掛ければ八八（八千八百）
となる。これを相場五百匁で割れば、
金十七匁六分と分かるべし。

Here is the proof that the previous calculation does not work out correctly.
For example, if there is 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold, and the market rate for koban (rectangular gold coin) is
500 monme of silver for exchange: if you divide 500 monme by 44 monme,
it comes to 11 monme 3 bu 6 rin 3 mo 6 shi 6 kotsu of silver per 1 monme of gold.
If you multiply this by the aforementioned 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold,
the result becomes 84 monme 9 bu 9 rin 9 mo 9 shi 5 kotsu of silver.
As seen here, because fractions are introduced and it does not come out evenly, this is a poor method of calculation.
Using the superior method for the above calculation: when exchanging 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold at the koban market rate of 500 monme,
how much silver does the gold amount to?
Answer: 85 monme of silver.

In the method: if you multiply 7 monme 4 bu 8 rin of gold by the market rate of 500 monme,
it becomes 374 (i.e., 3,740). Dividing this by 44 monme gives 85 monme,
as can be determined. This is the correct and good method of calculation. This way of thinking
is good and applicable to all situations.
When there is 200 monme of silver, and the market rate for koban is 500 monme exchange,
how much gold does the silver amount to?
Answer: it becomes 17 monme 6 bu of gold.
In the method: place 200 monme of silver on the right, multiply by 44 monme, and it becomes
88 (i.e., 8,800). Divide this by the market rate of 500 monme,
and you should find it to be 17 monme 6 bu of gold.
