御用人より相成り、この以後は式日定例のことゆえ記さない。
一、七月十二日、御用番堀田相模守（正亮）殿より御呼び出しがあり、
宗矩様より御留守居大谷一右衛門（良次）を差し出された。去る朔日（一日）に、
相模守殿へ一右衛門をもって差し出された御養子御礼を申し上げた節、
御献上物の御伺書に御付札をもって、
於義丸様よりも、
公方様へ 御太刀・金馬代・綿百把 二種一荷
大御所様・大納言様へ 御太刀・金馬代・綿五十把 一種一荷宛
宗矩様と御同様に御献上されるべき旨、御差図（指示）があり、その節、別紙御書付をもって仰せ出された。

養子被仰出候の御礼を申し上げる節、於義丸よりも
名代をもって申し上げるよう心得るべきこと。右の名代は越前家の
内より差し出すよう致すべきこと。この段、心得のため達し置き候。
右仰せ出されの趣、
宗矩様より於義丸様へ御使・御家老酒井外記（知喬）をもって仰せ進められた。

[The matter] was handled by the御用人 (go-yōnin; senior official), and henceforth, as it falls under regular ceremonial custom (shikijitsu jōrei), it will not be recorded.
Item: On the twelfth day of the Seventh Month, a summons was issued by the Duty Councillor (go-yōban) Hotta Sagami-no-kami (Masasuke), and Sōnori-sama dispatched his Chief Resident Representative (o-rusuigashi) Ōtani Ichiuemon (Yoshitsugu). On the first day of last month, when Ichiuemon had been dispatched to Sagami-no-kami's residence to formally present congratulations regarding the adoption (go-yōshi o-rei), a note (go-futsuke-fuda) was attached to the written inquiry (go-ukagai-sho) concerning the offerings (go-kenjōmono), stating:
O-Yoshimaru-sama is likewise to present:
To the Kubō-sama (Shogun): a sword (o-tachi), gold in lieu of a horse (kin-umashiro), and one hundred bundles of cotton — two items, one load
To the Ōgosho-sama and the Dainagon-sama: a sword (o-tachi), gold in lieu of a horse (kin-umashiro), and fifty bundles of cotton — one item, one load each
These offerings were to be presented in the same manner as Sōnori-sama's, as instructed. At that time, this was communicated via a separately written document (betsushi o-kakitsuke):

On the occasion of presenting formal congratulations (o-rei) upon the issuance of the order of adoption (yōshi o-ōse-idasa-re-sōrō), O-Yoshimaru is likewise to present [his congratulations] through a proxy (myōdai). Said proxy is to be dispatched from within the Echizen household. This matter is hereby conveyed for your understanding and guidance.
In accordance with the above instructions,
Sōnori-sama conveyed the matter to O-Yoshimaru-sama through a messenger, namely the Senior House Elder (go-karō) Sakai Geki (Tomotaka).
