現代語訳
一、七月二十日、御用番堀田相模守（正亮）殿より御呼び出しがあり、
宗矩様より御留守居大谷一右衛門（良次）を差し出された。去る十六日に
差し出した御伺書に御付札をもって御差図（指示）があった。

右の御方々より、只今まで於義丸の祝儀の節には
御音物もあり、お取替し致し来たっている由にございます。この度、養子
御礼を申し上げた以後、右の御方々へ於義丸方より進上物を
致すべきことでしょうか。そのような場合は、拙者方よりも進上物を致すべきでしょうか。
御付札
この度のことは、伺いの通り進物を致されるべきこと。以来のことは、
刑部卿殿の家老と申し談じて取り計らうようにされるべきこと。

一、右衛門督殿・小次郎殿へ生肴一種ずつ取替の儀は、

Item: On the twentieth day of the Seventh Month, a summons was issued by the Duty Councillor (go-yōban) Hotta Sagami-no-kami (Masasuke), and Sōnori-sama dispatched his Chief Resident Representative (o-rusuigashi) Ōtani Ichiuemon (Yoshitsugu). Regarding the written inquiry (go-ukagai-sho) submitted on the sixteenth of last month, instructions were conveyed via an attached note (go-futsuke-fuda).

Until now, on the occasion of O-Yoshimaru's celebratory events, the above-mentioned persons have exchanged gift offerings (o-otorimono) with him. Now that formal congratulations regarding the adoption have been presented, should O-Yoshimaru's household make presentation gifts (shinjōmono) to these persons henceforth? And if so, should our household likewise make presentation gifts?
Attached Note (go-futsuke-fuda)
On this occasion, presentation gifts are to be made as inquired. Regarding future occasions,
the matter is to be arranged through consultation with the house elders (karō) of the Gyōbukyō-dono's household.
