英語訳
...three sheets each; to the Junior Councilor (wakadoshiyori) Murase and one Lady of the Middle Rank (ochūrō), two sheets each; to one outer messenger (omotezukai), one secretary (oyūhitsu), and one attendant (otsugi), one sheet each — this was announced by the Senior Lady-in-Waiting (rōjo) Takizawa. In addition, five silver pieces were distributed to all the ladies-in-waiting collectively.
One entry: Upon departure,
His Lordship the Kubō (Shogun) presented a tiered lacquer picnic box (さげjū / sagejū) as a parting gift, which was duly received.
Note: It had been planned to receive the gift in the audience chamber (taimensho), but due to the young age of the recipient, it was instead received in the "Karako no Ma" (Chinese Children's Room), through the intermediary of a senior lady-in-waiting, with a formal gift list (mokuroku).
In addition,
Two loads of stacked food boxes (hokai) and one set of supplementary tiered boxes (soejū) were bestowed upon the accompanying personal attendants.
One entry: At the ninth half-hour (approx. 1:00 p.m.), the party departed the castle. At that time, the minor footmen (okobito) led the procession as far as the outer side of the bridge at Hirakawa Gate (note: they bowed in prostration approximately ten ken past the bridge, along the moat bank).
Lord Yoshimaru stopped by the Hitotsubashi residence, and after resting in the hall, presented dried abalone (naganoshi awabi) to the senior retainer (karō).
In return for the above courtesy,
Lord Munenori paid a round of formal courtesy visits to the Senior Councilors (rōjū).
One entry: On the first day of the fifth month, at the Tokiwabashi residence,
As Lord Yoshimaru was to raise his banner (nobori) for the first time, Lord Munenori had in advance presented iris decorations, a helmet (kabuto), a banner (nobori), and a fish offering; and from this day the banner was raised.
Note: It had been planned to raise the banner from the twenty-eighth of the previous month, but [the record continues on the next page]...
