One entry: The female attendants accompanying the party, from the senior lady-in-waiting (o-toshiyori) down to the junior attendants (o-tsugi), received an audience with the Ōgosho-sama at the lower-tier veranda (ge-dan no en-bō). The senior ladies-in-waiting Sakio and Yasoda each received three pieces of silver; the junior senior lady-in-waiting Kamei and one middle-ranking lady-in-waiting (o-chūrō) each received two pieces; and one outer-messenger (o-omote-tsukai), one secretary (o-yūhitsu), and one junior attendant (o-tsugi) each received one piece.
They were informed in the anteroom (o-tsugi no ma) by the two assigned senior ladies-in-waiting, Lady Takase and Lady Sunano, that these gifts had been bestowed by the Ōgosho-sama and the Dainagon-sama. In addition, five pieces of silver were given to all the other ladies-in-waiting collectively.
One entry: For Lord Yoshimaru's farewell, a second audience was held, during which he received as gifts one box of playthings (hand-carved horses) and one tiered lacquer picnic box set (sagejū) as a souvenir. In addition, two loads of lacquered food boxes (gyōki) and one supplementary tiered box set were bestowed upon the personal escort attendants accompanying him.
Note: The tiered picnic box was, owing to the castle being occupied with other matters that day, sent around by written message from the guest reception office to our senior ladies-in-waiting on the following day, the sixteenth.
At the half-hour of the eighth hour (approximately 3:00 p.m.), the party departed.
Note: One door of the Ohirobiki gate was opened, and both doors of the rear gate (o-ura-mon) were opened. As before, both the upper and lower guards took their seated positions of deference (geza).
One note: Two Iga men came forward to see the party off.
As a gesture of thanks for the above, a formal letter was subsequently sent from Lord Munenori's home domain to the senior councillors (rōjū).
One entry: On the twenty-third day of the sixth month, to Lord Tokugawa Gyōbukyō (Munetada)— [continued]
