先頃差出候書付之趣并口達之覚書右逐一
承知之事ニ候
一先年仮養子之儀ニ付 御内意之節者万一
不慮之儀も有之候ハヽ刑部卿殿を家督ニ茂
可被 仰付
大御所様 思召も有之候処年齢不相応ニ付
其事を被止候夫ニ付刑部卿殿嫡子小五郎殿を
兵部大輔養子ニ可被 仰出哉之 御内意ニ候

延享四年丁卯
一、四月二十七日
小五郎様へ、
公方様・大御所様・大納言様より、上使御小納戸頭取をもって、
菖蒲御兜一飾りずつ御拝領。
一、五月二十九日、御老中堀田相模守正亮殿へ、
宗矩様が御出になられた。《割書：昨日、相模守殿より御留守居をお呼び出しになり、今日御出になるよう御達しがあった》ところ、
御内意を仰せ出された。
御内意の御書付
先頃差し出した書付の趣ならびに口達の覚書、右を逐一
承知した次第である。
一、先年、仮養子の儀につき御内意のあった節は、万一
不慮のことがあれば、刑部卿殿を家督にも
仰せ付けられるべきとの
大御所様のお考えもあったところ、年齢が不相応につき
その事を止められた。それにつき、刑部卿殿の嫡子・小五郎殿を
兵部大輔の養子に仰せ出されるべきかとの御内意である。

1. The 27th day of the 4th month:
To Kogorō-sama,
From the Kubō-sama, the Ōgosho-sama, and the Dainagon-sama, through the intermediary of the Senior Page Chamberlain (O-konadō Tōdori), each presented one decorative iris helmet (shōbu kabuto) as a gift.
1. The 29th day of the 5th month: Sōnori-sama visited Senior Council Member (Rōjū) Hotta Sagami-no-Kami Masasuke.《Marginal note: The previous day, Sagami-no-Kami had summoned the caretaker official (rusuī), with a message that [Sōnori-sama] should call upon him today.》Upon visiting, a confidential communication was conveyed.
Confidential Written Communication
The contents of the document submitted some time ago, as well as the memorandum of the verbal communication, have been duly understood in full detail.
1. At the time of the previous confidential communication regarding the provisional adoption, it was considered that should any unforeseen circumstances arise, Gyōbukyō-dono might be appointed as heir;
however, as the Ōgosho-sama had also given this consideration, it was discontinued on account of his age being deemed unsuitable.
In relation to this, it is now conveyed as a confidential matter whether Kogorō-dono, the legitimate son of Gyōbukyō-dono, should be appointed as the adopted son of Hyōbudaifu.
