一当二月廿四日座本幾世一方ゟ申
　触候は座頭瞽女共ニ印形持
　薬不残相集候之様ニ申越ニ付
　皆々相集申候所座本并城
　国両人ニ而申聞候は城冨弟子
　慶勇義髪結子ニ候得ハ座頭ニ
　相成不申候旨ニ而潰し候趣申聞候
　此儀ハ慶勇弟子ニ仕候節私義も兼
　而存知罷有候事ニ御座候得ハ外ニ而
　乍親世仕是より貰心弟子ニ仕候
　其子細は先達而座本へも申
　達し候之処念入候事元来
　之親元相知候人々事夫ニも
　及申間敷と挨拶仕惣仲ヶ間一
　月ニ申渡相済候殊ニ去々年上
　京仕候節城国私共と論論之砌
　右之趣学文所江訴申候ニ付城
　冨方へ御尋御座候付委細申上
　候所不苦候弟子ニ可仕候旨被仰渡
　相済申候此段ハ城国も合点仕候事
　を如何存申候哉又々ヶ様ニ申聞候

口上書の覚え

一、当二月二十四日、座本幾世一方より申し触れましたのは、座頭・瞽女ともに印形を持参し、薬を残らず相集めるようにとの申し越しにつき、皆々相集まり申し候ところ、座本並びに城国両人にて申し聞かせましたのは、城冨の弟子慶勇について、髪結い子であるので座頭になることはできない旨にて潰し候趣を申し聞かせました。この件については、慶勇を弟子にいたしました節、私どもも兼ねて存知しておりました事でございますが、他にて親代わりとなって、これより貰い受け心弟子にいたしました。その子細は、先だって座本へも申し達しましたところ、念を入れて調べた結果、元来の親元を相知っている人々の事であり、それにも及ぶまいとの挨拶をいたし、総仲間一同に一月に申し渡して済ませました。殊に一昨年上京いたしました節、城国と私どもが論争いたしました際、右の趣旨を学文所へ訴え申しましたところ、城冨方へお尋ねがございましたので、委細申し上げましたところ、差し支えなく弟子にしてよろしいとの仰せ渡しがあり、済んでおります。この段については城国も合点いたしました事を、どのように考えているのでしょうか。また再びこのように申し聞かせる儀は納得いたしかねます。

一、当正月十二日、城冨について町方の御年貢

Memorandum of Oral Statement

Item: On the 24th day of the second month of this year, notice was given by Zamoto Kiyoichi's side that all zatō (blind male performers) and goze (blind female performers) should gather together, bringing their seals and medicine without exception. When everyone assembled as instructed, Zamoto and both Shirokuni informed us that regarding Jōtomi's disciple Keiyū, since he was a hairdresser's apprentice, he could not become a zatō, and therefore his status was to be revoked. Concerning this matter, when we took Keiyū as a disciple, we were already aware of this situation, but we acted as his guardian and adopted him as our spiritual disciple. The details of this were previously reported to the zamoto, and after careful investigation, it was determined that since we knew the people who were his original guardians, there should be no problem with this arrangement. We conveyed this to all the guild members within one month and the matter was settled. Moreover, when we went to Kyoto the year before last, during our dispute with Shirokuni, we appealed this matter to the Bureau of Learning. As a result, there was an inquiry made to Jōtomi's side, and when we explained the details, we were told that there would be no problem with taking him as a disciple, and the matter was concluded. Shirokuni also agreed to this arrangement, so how can he now think differently? We cannot accept this renewed objection.
