巴陵一望洞庭の秋
日々に見る孤峰水上に浮かぶを
聞くならく神仙接すべからず
心湖水に随いて共に悠々

巴陵郡の方から洞庭湖を見れば、一面に雲や霧もなく、毎日孤峰の離れ島がただ一つ洞庭の水の上に浮かんでいるのが見える。あなたはあの孤峰を遥かに目当てにして行き、後を隠して仙道修行をされる。仙人になっては人間には交わることができない高いところなれば、また仕方のないことではあるが、日々に見えるところなれば、あなたを思い、私の心は湖水のごとく果てもかぎりもなく思い暮らすであろう。

From Baling I gaze upon autumn over Dongting Lake
Daily I see a solitary peak floating upon the waters
I hear that immortals cannot be approached
My heart follows the lake waters, together drifting endlessly

Looking at Dongting Lake from Baling Commandery, there are no clouds or mist across the entire vista, and every day I can see a solitary peak - a lone island - floating upon the waters of Dongting. You will use that distant peak as your destination, concealing your traces to practice the Daoist way. Once you become an immortal, you will dwell in such lofty heights that mortals cannot commune with you - this cannot be helped. But since that place remains visible day after day, I will think of you, and my heart will drift endlessly like the lake waters, boundless in its longing.
