蘭陵美酒鬱金香（らんりやうのびしゆうつこんこう）玉碗盛来琥珀光（きよくわんもりきたるこはくのひかり）

現代語訳

蘭陵美酒鬱金香　玉碗盛来琥珀光
但使主人能酔客　不知何処是他郷

蘭陵は良い酒の産地。鬱金香とは香りの良い酒のこと。このような酒を見事な玉の碗に盛ってもてなされるのは恐れ多い。良い酒を見事な酒杯に注げば琥珀の光がする。主人とは今旅にて宿泊しているところの亭主。酒をふるまってくださるゆえ、故郷か他郷かも知らず楽しんでいる、という下心。旅の憂いを酒にて忘れる、という悲しみを含んでいる。

Fine wine of Lanling with turmeric fragrance, jade bowl filled with amber light
If only the host can intoxicate the guest, one knows not where is foreign land

Lanling is a place famous for good wine. Turmeric fragrance refers to fragrant wine. To be served such wine in a splendid jade bowl is truly gracious. When good wine is poured into a fine cup, it gives off an amber light. The host refers to the innkeeper where one is currently staying during travel. Because he serves wine, one enjoys oneself not knowing whether this is home or foreign land - this is the underlying sentiment. It contains the sadness of forgetting travel sorrows through wine.
