峨眉山月歌

峨眉山月半輪秋　影入平羌江水流
夜発清渓向三峡　思君不見下渝州

船に乗りこの山の下を通り見れば、月が半分は山に覆われ、その月影が江水に入り流れる。この清渓の渓谷を船に乗り出して三峡あたりへ乗り込めば、もう暗くして見えないという。渝州あたりへ行ったなら月が少しは見えるであろうと思って、清渓を乗り行くのである。しごく船の速いのを言う。川上より川下へ乗り下だす筋や。君とは月のことを言う。

李白

王元美が言うには、これはこれ太白の佳境二十八字の中に峨眉山、平羌江、清渓、三峡、渝州の五つの地名があるけれども、後人をしてこれがために痕跡に堪えざらしむるは、この老炉錘の妙なりという。

この後、宋の蘇子瞻なども この詩を賞し、この格に習ったけれども、太白の妙境には至り難しという。

Song of the Moon over Mount Emei

The half moon of autumn over Mount Emei, its reflection flows in the Pingqiang River
Departing at night from Clear Creek toward the Three Gorges, thinking of you but cannot see, going down to Yuzhou

Riding a boat and passing under this mountain, I see that half the moon is covered by the mountain, and its reflection enters and flows in the river water. Taking a boat through this Clear Creek valley toward the Three Gorges area, it becomes too dark to see. I think that if I go to the Yuzhou area, I might see the moon a little, so I travel down Clear Creek. This speaks of the extreme speed of the boat. It's about going downstream from upriver. "Jun" (you) refers to the moon.

Li Bai

Wang Yuanmei said: "This is Taibai's excellent verse of twenty-eight characters containing five place names - Mount Emei, Pingqiang River, Clear Creek, Three Gorges, and Yuzhou - yet it makes later people unable to bear the traces, which is the wonder of this old master's skill."

After this, Song dynasty's Su Zizhan and others praised this poem and tried to follow this style, but they say it is difficult to reach Taibai's wondrous realm.
