現代語訳

蘇台覧古

旧苑荒台楊柳新たなり
菱歌清唱春に堪えず
只今唯だ西江の月のみ有りて
曽て呉王宮裏の人を照らす

ここは呉王の古跡だという。定めて古は宮殿なども美麗であっただろうが、今は跡形もない。春が変遷することもなく楊柳は新緑を迎える。今は野原となり、ただ菱を取る人が歌を唱えて行き来する。どこもかも春だが、昔とは変わり果てた。ただ今なお在るものといえば月のみで、宮殿は跡形もない。ただその宮人を照らした月のみ昔のまま変わらずにある。この図はいにしえの呉王宮中の様子を写したものである。

Viewing Ancient Ruins at Su Terrace

Old gardens and ruined terraces, willows newly green
Water chestnut songs clearly sung, unbearable in spring
Only now there remains the moon over the western river
That once illuminated the people in the Wu king's palace

This is said to be the historic site of the Wu king. Surely in ancient times the palaces and such were magnificent, but now there is no trace left. Spring continues to change as always, and the willows welcome new green leaves. Now it has become an open field, and only people gathering water chestnuts come and go singing songs. Everywhere is spring, but it has completely changed from the past. Only the moon remains now, while the palace has left no trace. Only the moon that once illuminated the palace ladies remains unchanged from ancient times. This illustration depicts the scene of the ancient Wu king's palace.
