現代語訳

春夜洛城に笛を聞く

誰が家の玉笛ぞ、暗に声を飛ばす
春風に散じ入りて洛城に満つ
この夜曲中に折柳を聞いて
何人か故園の情を起こさざらん

李白

誰が吹くのか、誰ということも知れないが、思わず春風に吹き散らされて都中どこもかしこもこの声の聞こえないというところはあるまい。その曲は何を吹くのかと思うに、離別の「折柳」の曲を吹く。旅に出る者は誰でも悲しかろう。私も旅に出るゆえ憂いを引き起こすことである。「暗に」というのは「思わず」という心である。されども夜にかけても持ち合わせた字也。詳しくは掌故にあり。

Hearing a Flute on a Spring Night in Luoyang

Whose jade flute is it, sending its voice through the darkness?
Scattered into the spring wind, it fills all of Luoyang
Tonight, hearing "Breaking Willows" in this melody,
What person would not be moved to homesickness?

Li Bai

Who is playing it? Though I don't know who it might be, the sound is unexpectedly scattered by the spring wind throughout the entire capital, and there is probably no place where this voice cannot be heard. What melody is being played? It is the melody of "Breaking Willows," associated with parting. Anyone who travels would feel sorrow. Since I too am traveling, it stirs up my melancholy. "In darkness" (an ni) means "unexpectedly" or "unawares." However, it also serves as an appropriate character for nighttime. Details can be found in historical records.
