長信秋詞　王昌齢

この詩は班姫が寵愛の衰えた様子を詠んだものである。真成とは本来「まことに」ということで、薄命法である。

真成薄命久尋思　夢見君王覚後疑
火照西宮知夜飲　分明復道奉恩時

本当に薄命で長い間思い悩んでいる。夢で君王を見るが、目覚めた後に疑う。
火が西宮を照らして夜の宴を知る。はっきりと覚えているのは複道で恩を受けた時のことだ。

（割書の注釈）
幸せであった班姫の心に寵愛が衰えた我は薄命だと思う。また本来寵愛の衰えたことやら久しく思い悩み決めかねる。しばらく夢の中で確かに君にお目にかかり寵愛に遇ったと思ったが、目覚めて見ればそれは嘘であった。これは夢であったのか、なかったのかと疑う。目覚めた後、長信宮よりよく見れば昭陽宮のあたりで火が西宮を照らしている。あれは帝の御遊びがあって夜の酒盛りでもあったのだろうか。しかしながら昔恩を受けた時のように分明にはっきりと、今お目にかかりたいが夢のようではなかった。しかし目覚めて見れば帝の宮は向こうにある。さてさて切ない事だなあということである。詳細は箋註にある。

Autumn Poem of Changxin Palace by Wang Changling

This poem depicts the waning of Consort Ban's favor. "Zhencheng" originally means "truly," and refers to her unfortunate fate.

Truly of ill fate, long have I pondered in thought; dreaming of the sovereign, I doubt after waking
Fire illuminates the Western Palace, revealing night banquets; clearly I remember the time of receiving favor in the covered corridors

I am truly ill-fated and have been troubled by thoughts for a long time. I dream of the emperor but doubt upon waking.
Fire lights up the Western Palace, revealing nighttime festivities. What I remember clearly is the time when I received imperial favor in the palace corridors.

In the heart of the once-happy Consort Ban, whose favor has waned, she thinks herself ill-fated. She has long pondered whether her favor has truly declined, unable to reach a conclusion. For a while in her dream, she clearly met with her lord and was shown affection, but upon waking she found it was false. She wonders whether this was a dream or not. After awakening, looking carefully from Changxin Palace, she sees fire illuminating the area around Zhaoyang Palace and the Western Palace. Perhaps the emperor is having entertainments and evening banquets there. However, unlike when she clearly received imperial favor in the past, now she wishes to see him again, but it was not like a dream. Yet upon waking, she sees the emperor's palace is over there. How truly heartbreaking this is! Details are found in the commentaries.
