現代語訳

薛大夫を送りて安陸に赴かしむ　王昌齢

津頭の雲雨湘山を暗くし、遷客の離憂楚地の顔
遥かに扁舟を送る安陸郡、天辺何れの処ぞ穆陵関

今こなた（薛大夫）を送る私が見れば、折しも風雨の時分ゆえ湘山なども雲雨に閉ざされて見えない。楚地の顔とは楚辞では憂いにかかるということになるが、ここではやはり離別の憂いを言う。私、左遷の身なれば、この楚国の地に顔色憔悴の境遇にあり、送られる者が我が身に添えて一入悲しい。舟に乗り安陸へ行くのを送ることよ。あまりの名残惜しさに後影を見れば、雨が暗く降って安陸郡より穆陵関は高い処ゆえ、この処より天に聳え見ゆるが、今日は雨や雲で見えぬゆえ別して名残惜しい。

英語訳

Sending Off Minister Xue to Anlu - Wang Changling

Clouds and rain at the ferry darken Mount Xiang,
The exiled guest's parting sorrow shows in his face in Chu land.
From afar I send off the lone boat to Anlu Prefecture,
Where at heaven's edge lies Muling Pass.

Now as I send off this person (Minister Xue), I see that it happens to be a time of wind and rain, so Mount Xiang and others are obscured by clouds and rain and cannot be seen. "The face in Chu land" - in the Chu Ci (Songs of Chu), this refers to being touched by sorrow, but here it speaks of the sorrow of parting. Since I myself am in exile, living in this land of Chu with a haggard countenance, the sending away of another adds to my own deep sadness. Sending off one who boards a boat bound for Anlu - with such overwhelming reluctance, I gaze at the departing figure. The rain falls darkly, and though Muling Pass beyond Anlu Prefecture, being at a high place, should tower toward heaven from this spot, today it cannot be seen through rain and clouds, making the parting especially poignant.
