醉別江樓橘柚香　江風引雨入船涼
憶君遙在湘山月　愁聽清猿夢裡長

今、あなたが長沙の方へ行かれるので宴会を催し、この江楼で酔って別れる頃も秋なので、橘や柚子なども熟して香ばしく匂う時分である。あなたがこの処より乗って行く舟の上を江風が吹いて雨を運んで来て涼しい。行く先の各州を思いやり、これから湘山あたりへ行かれたならば月を見てさえしみじみと思うものを、猿の声が澄み渡って長く鳴くのを夢の夜すがら聞かれたならば、夜も寝られず憂いていらっしゃるであろう。いたわしいことである。

Parting drunk from the riverside pavilion, fragrant with oranges and pomelos,
River winds bring rain into the boat, cool and refreshing.

Bidding Farewell to Wei San - Wang Changling

Now that you are departing for Changsha, we hold a farewell banquet and part in drunkenness from this riverside pavilion. Since it is autumn, oranges and pomelos are ripe and fragrant. River winds blow over the boat you will board from this place, bringing rain and coolness. Thinking of the various provinces where you are bound - when you reach the area around Mount Xiang, even seeing the moon will move you deeply, and if through your dreaming nights you hear the clear, penetrating cries of gibbons echoing long, you will be unable to sleep and will grieve. How pitiful it is.
