現代語訳

初めて巴陵に至り李十二白と同じく洞庭湖に舟を浮かべる　賈至

楓の岸辺では紛々として落葉が多く、洞庭湖の秋の水は夕暮れになって波が立つ。
興に乗じて軽舟で近いも遠いもなく漂い、白雲と明月が湘娥を弔っている。

南国の巴陵あたりへ左遷させられてやって来た。

楓岸紛々はみな楚辞の語である。秋の時分なので岸の紅葉なども紛々と散り乱れ、木の葉も落ちて寂しくなった水面を見れば、秋風が吹くので波も立ち、何となく屈原のことも思い出される。

左遷の身なので二人ともに心を得ず、屈原と同じ境遇である。

舟に乗り遠近の差別もなく乗り回してこのように果てしもなくいたならば、白雲の晴れた明月の夜すがらは湘君の廟を弔うようなものである。

英語訳

First Arriving at Baling, Floating on Dongting Lake Together with Li Twelve Bai - by Jia Zhi

On the maple shores, leaves fall in profusion, autumn waters of Dongting have waves in the evening light.
Riding our fancy on a light boat with no distinction of near or far, white clouds and bright moon mourn for Xiangé.

Having been demoted and sent to the Baling area in the southern provinces.

"Maple shores in profusion" - these are all words from the Songs of Chu. Being autumn time, the maple leaves on the shore also scatter in profusion, and with fallen leaves the water surface has become lonely. Seeing the waves rise because autumn winds blow, one somehow recalls the story of Qu Yuan.

Being in the condition of demotion, neither of us finds peace of mind - we are in the same circumstances as Qu Yuan.

Riding in the boat without distinction of distance, drifting endlessly like this, through the night under bright moon with clearing white clouds, it would be like mourning at the shrine of Lord Xiang.
