虢州の後亭にて李判官の使いとして晋絳に赴くを送る 秋字を得たり　岑参

西原の駅路は城頭に掛かり
客は紅亭に散じて雨未だ休まず
君去りて試しに看よ
汾水の上の白雲なお漢時の秋に似たり

【現代語訳・解説】
虢州の後亭（城の後ろにある建物）で、李判官が使者として晋絳に向かうのを見送った。詩韻の「秋」の字を得て作った詩である。

西原の宿駅の道は城の上に掛かっている。客たちは紅亭で別れを告げ、雨はまだ止んでいない。君よ、行ってから試しに見てみよ。汾水の上の白雲は、なお漢の時代の秋と変わらない様子である。

後亭とは虢州の城の後ろにある建物のことである。西原の城より上に山を越えて街道があるので「掛かる」という。江亭まで見送ってきた客もみな帰り、寂しくなった。まして雨も止まず、寂しい時節に道中されるのはさぞ寂しいことだろう。

さてその道筋の汾水あたりには漢の武帝の古跡がある。君が去って試しに見られよ。漢の時代の人はもはや跡形もあるまい。白雲ばかりは漢の時代と変わるまい。楼船を浮かべるというような事もあるまい。このような事を見られたならば、いにしえを感じてなお悲しいであろう。

The post road of Xiyuan hangs over the city walls
Guests disperse at the Red Pavilion, rain has not yet ceased
When you depart, try to observe:
The white clouds above the Fen River still resemble autumn in Han times

【Modern Translation and Commentary】
At the rear pavilion of Guozhou (a building behind the castle), I saw off Judge Li as he departed on a mission to Jinjiang. This poem was composed using the character "autumn" from the poetry rhyme scheme.

The post road of Xiyuan runs above the castle walls. The guests have all dispersed at the Red Pavilion, and the rain has not yet stopped. My friend, when you depart, try to observe: the white clouds above the Fen River remain unchanged from autumn in the Han dynasty.

The "rear pavilion" refers to a building behind the castle of Guozhou. Since the highway crosses over mountains above Xiyuan castle, it is described as "hanging over." The guests who came to see you off at the river pavilion have all returned home, leaving a sense of loneliness. Moreover, with the rain not stopping, traveling in such a lonely season must be particularly melancholy.

Along your route, around the Fen River, there are ancient sites from Han Emperor Wu's time. When you go, try to observe them. The people from Han times have long since vanished without a trace. Only the white clouds remain unchanged from Han times. There will be no more floating of tower ships as in ancient times. If you observe such scenes, you will surely feel moved by the past and become even more melancholy.
