[Right folio]
[That Yoshikage had not come up to the capital] because [the Kaga] ikki arose was the result of poor judgment in military matters. Furthermore, [Yoshikage] had supported Saitō Tatsuoki, and moreover the fact that Tatsuoki appeared as the vanguard commander of the Miyoshi forces was entirely Asakura's doing. Next, as the Azai father and son were ensconced in Ōmi Province and not complying with Nobunaga's orders—this too seemed to be because they were relying on Yoshikage as their backer—[Nobunaga] declared that he should advance on Ecchū [Echizen] Province (and so forth).
[Marginal note in vermillion, upper margin:]
Death of Takeda Yoshimune
Around this time, Hemi Suruga-no-kami of Takahama in Ōi District of Wakasa Province submitted [to Nobunaga]. Takeda Yoshimune of Obama in the same province was an enemy, but he had recently died suddenly, and since his adopted son, Ukyō-no-suke Yoshiyori, was of dim-witted character, the province turned against him, and Mitsuhide informed [Nobunaga] that retainers such as Awaya, Yamagata, Kumagai, Matsumiya, and Naitō were deeply committed to joining [Nobunaga's] side (and so forth).
[Marginal note in vermillion, upper margin:]
Nobunaga's First Advance to Tsuruga
On the twentieth day of the fourth month, Nobunaga passed through Yase and Tōchū and crossed over via Kutsuki, arriving at Kumakawa in Wakasa Province. Since a man called Matsumiya Genba in this area had turned away from the Takeda and surrendered to the Oda clan, [Nobunaga] thereupon

had fifteen hundred cavalry attached to Sakai Ukon-shōgen Shigeyasu and left [them] stationed at Kumakawa. Also, Kyōgoku Nagato-no-kami Takayoshi and Gotō Kisaburō Yorimoto, with over a thousand cavalry, established a camp to the west of Imazu in Ōmi Province and contained the enemy castles. Nobunaga changed his route from Kumakawa, passed by Obama Castle from a distance, took the Awagara mountain pass, arrived at Shinjo, took Kumagai Naizen along, and then, using Awaya Etchū-no-kami of Sagaki as his guide, advanced to the port of Tsuruga in Echizen Province. Upon hearing of this, Asakura dispatched Yamazaki Nagato-no-kami, Takugi Echigo-no-kami, Kawai Aki-no-kami, Kobayashi Bitchū-no-kami, Uozumi Bingo-no-kami, and Toda Shimōsa-no-kami with several thousand cavalry to Tsuruga, with the intention of reinforcing Asakura Nakatsukasa-no-taifu Kagehira, the commander of Kanagasaki Castle. Yoshikage also established his main camp at Kinome Pass. Nobunaga, declaring that he should attack the stronghold of Tezutsu Mountain—a subsidiary castle of Kanagasaki—climbed up to assault it. The castle commander, Terada Uneme-no-suke, was unable to hold out in battle and died fighting. It was at this juncture that from Ōmi [Province]…
