[Right folio]
...–take and the others served as the rearguard and died in battle at the pass of Mount Tone. Asakura Gondō, Kitanoshō Tosa-no-kami, Takumi Echigo-no-kami, Kawai Aki-no-kami, Asakura Izumo-no-kami, Asakura Kamon-no-suke, Aoki Hayato, and more than five hundred others were killed. Yoshikage had secretly arranged for (Asakura) Gondō to take refuge in Kanegasaki Castle, but as Michikage had died in battle along the road, this plan could not be carried out. The fortifications at Hikidan Castle, which had been held by Tōge Saburōzaemon, as well as the strongholds at Yamanaka and Tatéishi, had all been abandoned. Declaring that the only recourse now was to take shelter in the castles of Kinome and Hachifuse, held by Inemaki (Kanamaki) Tamba-no-kami, (Yoshikage's forces) withdrew to Kinome. When Nobunaga arrived at Tsuruga, they abandoned Kinome as well, and by the time they passed through Imaijō and reached Fuchū Castle, their forces had been reduced to a mere five hundred horsemen. Thus they returned to Ichijō(dani).
[Marginal note in vermillion, upper margin:]
Samurai of the Yoshikage Household who Surrendered
Among the Asakura retainers who surrendered were: Maenami Kurōbyōe Yoshitsugu, Tomita Mago-rokurō Nagahide, Maenami Sōkichirō, Tomita Yojirō, Keya Inosuke, and Masui Jinnai. (From this point onward, recorded in mid-fifth month.)
[Left folio]
On the sixteenth day of the eighth month, taking Maenami Kurōbyōe, Tomita Mago-roku, and Ato(oji) Awaji-no-kami as guides, (Nobunaga) crossed Kinome Pass and arrived at the post town of Sabonami. From there, he established his main camp at Fuchū Ryūsenji and deployed his forces facing Ichijō(dani). (Abbreviated)
[Marginal note in vermillion, upper margin:]
Advancing on Horie
At the time of the suppression of the ikki [Tenshō 1 (1573)], Nobunaga arrived at Tsuruga. Mukai Suruga-no-kami Hisaie, a kinsman of Yoshikage, had sided with the ikki, but came to Tsuruga and sought to become a direct retainer (of Nobunaga). Horie Nakatsukasa-saburō Toshishige, who had been living in confinement in Kaga Province, sent a messenger (to Nobunaga) with the intention of betraying the ikki.
[Marginal note in vermillion, upper margin:]
Killing of Agi Magosaburō
After the suppression of the ikki, Asakura Magosaburō Kagetake, a cousin of Yoshikage, had been in his home castle at Agi observing the state of the world at the time of Yoshikage's downfall. Afterwards, he secluded himself deep in the mountains of Agi at Ikari(yama) and spent many months and years there before finally coming out to surrender. (Nobunaga) made him a subordinate of Mukai Suruga-no-kami. Out of resentment (at this arrangement), Kagetake seized an opportunity, feigning normalcy, and struck down and killed Suruga-no-kami (and/or Magosaburō).
