【左 下部】
この国は平忠常の本国である下総の本城である。要害無双の城で、海上三十里に面して二十余町を渡るのに船がない。頼信は満潮の時を見計らって敵の油断を察し、自ら先駆けして五万の味方が続いて渡った。忠常は防ぐ手立てがなく、ついに降伏して病死した。

This province was the home territory of Taira no Tsunetsune, the main castle of Shimōsa Province. It was an impregnable fortress of unparalleled strategic importance. Facing thirty ri of sea with over twenty chō to cross, there were no boats available. Yorinobu observed the high tide timing and perceived the enemy's negligence, personally leading the vanguard as fifty thousand allies followed across. Tsunetsune had no means of defense and finally surrendered, dying of illness.
