……第五を「司命」と言い、第六を「司寇」と言う。北の六星を「内階」と言う。相の一星は北斗の南にあり、百官を総領し、もって衆事（多くの事務）を集める。太陽星は相の西にある。西北の四星を「勢」と言う。天牢の六星は北斗の魁の下にある。これが文昌宮（に連なる星の配列）の次第である。
太微は天子の庭（宮廷）であり、五帝の座であり、十二諸侯の府（役所）でもある。その外蕃（外の垣）は九卿にあたる。一説には「太微は衡（はかり）をなし、衡は平（公平）を司る」と言われる。また天庭（天の法廷）ともされ、法を理（おさ）め、辞（言葉・訴え）を平（公正）にし、徳ある者の昇任を監督・授与し、列宿（多くの星宿）に符（しるし）を授け、諸神の節（節義・節度）を考（ただ）し、情を伸べ、疑いを稽（ただ）す（役を担う）。南蕃（南の垣）の中の二星を「端門」と言う。東（の星）を「左執法」と言い、廷尉の象（かたち）である。西（の星）を「右執法」と言い、御史大夫の象である。左執法の東は左掖門であり、右執法の西は右掖門である。東蕃の四星は、第一が「上将」、第二が「次将」、第三が「次相」、第四が「上相」であり、みな「四輔」と言う。西南の角の外の三星を「明堂」と言い、天子が政（まつりごと）を布（し）く宮（にあたる）である。西の三星を「霊台」と言い、雲物（雲の様子・天象）を観察することを司る。左執法の東北の一星を「謁者」と言い、賓客を讃（もてな）すことを司る。謁者の東北の三星を「三公内座」と言い、朝会（朝廷の会議）の場所である。北の三星を「九卿内座」と言う。九卿の西の五星を「内五諸侯」と言う。これが太微宮（に連なる星の配列）の次第である。

...The fifth is called "Overseer of Fate" (*Sī Mìng*), and the sixth is called "Overseer of Criminal Justice" (*Sī Kòu*). The six stars to the north are called the "Inner Staircase" (*Nèi Jiē*). The single star of the Chancellor (*Xiāng*) is located to the south of the Northern Dipper, overseeing and directing the hundred offices, and thereby gathering all affairs. The Grand Yang Star (*Tài Yáng Xīng*) is located to the west of the Chancellor. The four stars to the northwest are called "Vigor" (*Shì*). The six stars of the Celestial Prison (*Tiān Láo*) are located below the Dipper bowl of the Northern Dipper. This is the sequence of the Literary Glory Palace (*Wén Chāng Gōng*).
The Supreme Tenuity (*Tài Wēi*) is the court of the Son of Heaven, the seat of the Five Emperors, and the bureau of the Twelve Feudal Lords. Its outer fence (*wài fān*) corresponds to the Nine Ministers. One account says: "The Supreme Tenuity serves as a balance scale (*héng*), and the balance scale governs impartiality." It is also regarded as the Celestial Court (*Tiān Tíng*), which governs law, renders judgments fairly, supervises and confers advancement upon the virtuous, bestows credentials (*fú*) upon the arrayed lunar lodges, examines the propriety (*jié*) of the various spirits, expresses sentiment, and adjudicates doubts. The two stars in the center of the southern fence (*nán fān*) are called the "Upright Gate" (*Duān Mén*). The eastern star is called the "Left Enforcer of Law" (*Zuǒ Zhí Fǎ*), the image of the Commandant of Justice (*Tíng Wèi*). The western star is called the "Right Enforcer of Law" (*Yòu Zhí Fǎ*), the image of the Imperial Censor-in-Chief (*Yù Shǐ Dà Fū*). To the east of the Left Enforcer of Law is the Left Flanking Gate (*Zuǒ Yè Mén*), and to the west of the Right Enforcer of Law is the Right Flanking Gate (*Yòu Yè Mén*). Four stars flank the Seat of the Yellow Emperor: the east is the "Azure Emperor" (*Cāng Dì*), the south is the "Red Emperor" (*Chì Dì*), the west is the "White Emperor" (*Bái Dì*), and the north is the "Black Emperor" (*Hēi Dì*). The one star to the north is called the "Crown Prince" (*Tài Zǐ*). The one star to the north of the Crown Prince is called the "Attending Official" (*Cóng Guān*). The one star to the northeast of the Emperor's Seat is called the "Favored Courtier" (*Xìng Chén*). The four stars of the Screen (*Píng*) are situated within the Upright Gate, serving to shelter and protect the Emperor's Seat.
