【右丁 上段】
○剣術は太刀打ちの技法である。兵法者ともいい、武士第一の道である。流儀は数多くあり、神道流、柳生流、神影流、一刀流などさまざまある。しかし、未熟な技芸を頼みにして、身の危険を知らない人がしばしば多い。嘆かわしいことではないか。今の平和な御代においては、商家、職人、農民等は知らないほうがよいであろう。

○囲碁は周公旦が作られたという。吉備大臣が入唐の時に伝来したという。三百六十目は年月日数である。九つの星は九曜の星、石の黒白は昼夜を表すのだという。
○将棋は周の武帝が臣下の王褒に命じて作らせた。軍法の備えを模したものである。大将棋、中将棋があり、今遊んでいるものを小将棋というのは、もともと習わしがあるのである。

○Swordsmanship is the technique of sword fighting. It is also called "heihōja" (military strategist) and is the foremost way of the warrior. There are many schools: Shintō-ryū, Yagyū-ryū, Shinkage-ryū, Ittō-ryū, and various others. However, there are often many people who rely on immature skills and do not know the danger to their lives. Is this not lamentable? In today's peaceful reign, it would be better for merchants, artisans, farmers and such not to know these arts.

○Go is said to have been created by the Duke of Zhou (Zhougong Dan). It is said to have been transmitted when Minister Kibi visited Tang China. The 360 intersections represent the days of the year. The nine star points represent the nine luminaries, and the black and white stones represent day and night.
○Shogi was created when Emperor Wu of Zhou commanded his retainer Wang Bao to make it. It models military formations and tactics. There are large shogi and medium shogi; what we play with today is called small shogi, which comes from ancient custom.
