その価値があるのである。寛文年間から今に至るまで、ほとんど百数十年が経過し、版木はすでに摩滅欠損してしまった。今年寛政己酉年に、額田氏の主人が下河辺氏に依頼して、旧来の様式を移写し、再び彫刻した。その精巧で緻密な仕上がりは、旧版に比べて倍する出来栄えである。刻成後、私に一言を求められたので、私は次のように述べた。近年、春朝齋の『山城名所図会』があり、これもまた図絵の故をもって世に盛んに行われている。朝に刷り夕に印刷し、洛陽の紙が貴重になるほどである。あれは実際のところ、一臥遊の具に過ぎないものでありながら、なおこのように賞賛されている。ましてやこの大いに益のある書物は、ただ目を楽しませるためだけに供するものではない。であれば必ずあれと並び駆けて、さらに超越してこれを過ぎること、掌を指すように明らかである。私はあらかじめ額田翁のために祝賀の言葉を述べる。翁よ、これを記して験証されよ。

such value indeed. From the Kanbun era until now, nearly one hundred and several decades have passed, and the printing blocks have already become worn and damaged. This year, in the Kansei Kitsunoto year, the master of the Nukada family commissioned the Shimokawabe family to copy the old format and re-engrave it. The precise and meticulous workmanship is twice as fine as the original. After completion, I was asked to provide a few words, so I stated the following: Recently, there has been Shunchōsai's "Yamashiro Meisho Zue" (Illustrated Guide to Famous Places in Yamashiro), which has also flourished in the world due to its illustrations. Printed in the morning and evening, the paper of Luoyang has become precious. That work is actually nothing more than an armchair travel companion, yet it is still praised in this manner. How much more so for this greatly beneficial book, which does not serve merely to delight the eye. It will surely run alongside that work and surpass it, as clear as pointing to one's palm. I offer congratulations in advance for Elder Nukada. Elder, record this and verify it.
