○維摩（ゆいま）居士（こじ）ともいへり
手（て）に払子（ほつす）を持（もち）方丈（ほうじやう）
の門に八方の獅子（しし）の座（ざ）
をかざり三千の大衆（たいしゆ）を
入て法門（ほうもん）をゝし給へり
○山越（やまごし）の弥陀（みだ）は比叡山（ひえいざん）
横川（よかは）の峯（みね）に阿弥陀仏（あみだぶつ）
の尊容（そんよう）を現（げん）じ給ふを
恵心僧都（ゑしんそうづ）拝（おが）み給ひて
写（うつ）し給ひけるとかや

祖（そ）なり守屋（もりや）を亡（ほろぼ）し摂州（せつしう）

現代語訳
【右丁 上段】
○維摩居士とも言われる。手に払子を持ち、方丈の門に八方の獅子の座を飾り、三千の大衆を入れて仏法を教えられた。
○山越の弥陀は比叡山横川の峰に阿弥陀仏の尊い姿を現されたのを、恵心僧都が拝んで写し取られたということである。
○聖徳太子は人王三十二代用明天皇の皇子である。三十四代推古天皇の御代に摂政となった。日本仏教の祖である。物部守屋を滅ぼし、摂津国四天王寺を建立された。
【左丁 上段】
○出山の釈迦は如来が十七歳で出家し、三十歳の時、十二月八日、明星の出る時に廓然大悟を示し、正覚を成就された。
○誕生仏は釈迦如来が卯月八日寅の刻に誕生され、七歩歩んで左右の手で上下を指差して「天上天下唯我独尊」と言われたということである。入滅は二月十五日である。

○ Also called Vimalakirti Layman. He held a hossu (fly whisk) in his hand, decorated the gate of his ten-foot square room with lion seats in eight directions, and admitted three thousand followers to teach them the Buddhist dharma.
○ The Amida of Yamagoshi: Amida Buddha manifested his sacred form on the peak of Yokawa at Mount Hiei, which the priest Eshin Sozu respectfully observed and depicted.
○ Prince Shotoku was the prince of Emperor Yomei, the 32nd human emperor. He served as regent during the reign of Empress Suiko, the 34th emperor. He is the founder of Buddhism in Japan. He destroyed Moriya and established Shitenno-ji Temple in Settsu Province.

○ Shakyamuni Leaving the Mountain: The Tathagata renounced the world at age seventeen, and at age thirty, on December 8th, when the morning star appeared, he achieved great enlightenment and attained perfect awakening.
○ The Birth Buddha: Shakyamuni Tathagata was born on the eighth day of the fourth month at the hour of the Tiger, took seven steps, and pointing up and down with his left and right hands, declared "Above heaven and below heaven, I alone am honored." His parinirvana (death) was on February 15th.
