【右丁 上段】
○六 祖（そ）大師（だいし）は唐土（もろこし）にて
達磨（たるま）より第六 祖（そ）諱（いみな）は
恵能（ゑのう）此下（このした）より禅宗（ぜんしう）五
家（か）にわかる大 鑑（かん）禅師（ぜんじ）は
おくり号（がう）なり
○伝教（でんぎやう）大師は最澄（さいてう）とも
いふ日本（につほん）天台（てんだい）の開祖（かいそ）なり
延暦（ゑんりやく）廿一年に入唐（にうとう）五十六
歳六月四日 入滅（にうめつ）
○役行者（ゑんのきやうじや）は役小角（ゑんのせうかく）とも
いふ和州（わしう）の人 葛城山（かづらきやま）に入
て孔雀（くじやく）明王（みやうわう）の法（ほう）を行（おこな）ひ
後（のち）に母（はゝ）を鉢（はち）入て入唐（にうとう）し
たまふ

○寒山子（かんざんし）は初唐（しよたう）の人
天台山（てんだいさん）に隠（かく）れて常（つね）
に拾得（しつとく）と法友（ほうゆう）たり後（のち）に
去所（さるどころ）をしらず文殊（もんじゆ）の
化身（けしん）なりといふ
○拾得（じつとく）は豊干（ぶかん）禅師（ぜんじ）の
道（みち）のかたはらに拾（ひろ）ひ得（ゑ）
たるゆへ拾得（じつとく）といふ常（つね）に
寒山（かんざん）とまじはるその終（おはり）
をしる人なし
○巨霊人（これいしん）は大 力（りき）神通（じんづう）
を得（え）たる仙人（せんにん）なり山を
劈（つんざく）の力（ちから）あり常（つね）に白虎（びやくこ）
を愛（あい）す

現代語訳
【右丁 上段】
○六祖大師は中国において達磨から数えて第六代目の祖師である。諱は恵能といい、この方以降、禅宗は五家に分かれた。大鑑禅師は贈り名である。
○伝教大師は最澄ともいう。日本天台宗の開祖である。延暦二十一年に入唐し、五十六歳で六月四日に入滅した。
○役行者は役小角ともいう。大和国の人で、葛城山に入って孔雀明王の法を修行し、後に母を鉢に入れて入唐された。

○寒山子は初唐の人で、天台山に隠れ住み、常に拾得と法友であった。後にどこへ去ったかわからない。文殊菩薩の化身であるという。
○拾得は豊干禅師が道端で拾い得たため拾得という。常に寒山と交わり、その最期を知る人はいない。
○巨霊人は大きな力と神通力を得た仙人である。山を裂く力があり、常に白虎を愛している。

【Right Page Upper Section】
○ The Sixth Patriarch was the sixth patriarch in the lineage from Bodhidharma in China. His personal name was Huineng, and from him onward, the Zen sect divided into five schools. "Great Mirror Zen Master" is his posthumous title.
○ Great Master Dengyo is also called Saicho. He was the founder of Japanese Tendai Buddhism. He entered Tang China in the 21st year of Enryaku and entered nirvana at age 56 on June 4th.
○ En no Gyoja is also called En no Ozunu. He was from Yamato Province, entered Mount Katsuragi to practice the dharma of Peacock Wisdom King, and later went to Tang China with his mother in a bowl.

○ Hanshan was a person from the early Tang period who lived as a hermit on Mount Tiantai and was always a dharma friend with Shide. Later, no one knew where he went. It is said he was an incarnation of Manjusri Bodhisattva.
○ Shide is so called because Zen Master Fenggan found and picked him up by the roadside. He constantly associated with Hanshan, and no one knows of his end.
○ The Giant Spirit is an immortal who obtained great strength and supernatural powers. He has the power to split mountains and always loves white tigers.
