春の都には花が飛び散らない場所などなく
寒食の日、東風が御苑の柳を斜めになびかせる
日暮れに漢の宮廷から蝋燭が伝えられ
青い煙が散って五侯の家々に入っていく【挿絵】
《解説：春の寒食の時分には、都の辺りどこもかしこも花の飛び散らない所はない。この御築地の回りの柳なども東風に吹かれて斜めに垂れている。寒食の日暮れには新たに切火をして、それを蝋燭に点じて臣下らに下されるのを人々受け伝えて、まず最初に青い煙の濃いところを一番駆けに持参する所が、天子の御一門の五侯七貴の門に行くことである。
寒食は冬至より百五日目の日にて二月にあり》

【Poem Title】Cold Food Festival by Han Hong
In the spring capital, there is no place where flowers do not fly and scatter,
On Cold Food day, the east wind makes the imperial willows lean askew.
At sunset, candles are transmitted from the Han palace,
Blue smoke disperses and enters the homes of the five marquises.【Illustration】
《Commentary: During the Cold Food Festival in spring, there is nowhere in the capital area where flowers do not scatter and fly. The willows around the imperial walls are also blown by the east wind and hang slanting. At sunset on Cold Food day, new fire is kindled and lit on candles to be bestowed upon the retainers, and people receive and relay them. The first to carry the thick blue smoke at top speed goes to the gates of the Five Marquises and Seven Nobles of the imperial family.
Cold Food Festival falls on the 105th day from the winter solstice, occurring in the second month.》
