真夜中に舟の向きを変えて楚郷に入ると、月は明るく山と水が
ともに青々としている。孤独な猿がさらに秋風の中で叫んでいるが、
愁いを抱く人でなくても心が痛む
《解説：真夜中に舟の向きを変えて楚郷の方へ向かうと、空も晴れ渡り、月も明るく山が水面に映ってともに青々と見える。その上、秋風の中で一匹の猿が叫び、物悲しい。これは旅の宿だけのことかと思えば、憂いのない人でも哀愁の情を催すのであり、まして我らのような者は非常に悲しい》【挿絵】

At midnight I turn my boat and enter Chu territory, where the moon shines bright and mountains and water
are both verdant. A solitary monkey cries further in the autumn wind—
even one who is not troubled would feel heartbroken
《Commentary: At midnight, turning the boat's direction toward Chu territory, the sky is clear and the moon bright, with mountains reflected in the water, both appearing verdant together. Moreover, in the autumn wind, a lone monkey cries mournfully.
