《割書：女中の居る戻子張（もしはり）の窓（まと）へなゝめに月がさしこんで奥（おく）ふかくきら〳〵と見へて物さびしいをりふしさむさうにこゝかし｜こできり〴〵すがうるはしく鳴（なく）をきけばいとゞさひしふなつておつとの事を思ひ出し涙（なみだ）衣をうるほす夫を思ふ｜につけて夢（ゆめ）のうちにあり〳〵と夫のゐる関塞（くはんさい）をみて夫にあふたやうに思はるゝが女の身なれば行（ゆか）うはづもなく｜道もしらぬがどこから金微（きんび）に向て行たぞみちもしらぬに不／思議（しき）な事ではあるとなり》

又（塞下曲続篇）
朔雪は飄々として雁門を開き、平沙は歴乱として蓬根を捲く
功名は擒生の数を計ることを恥とし、直ちに楼蘭を斬りて国恩を報ぜん
《注釈：辺境の砦なので北方より風雪が飄々と降り来るため、雁門の陣屋の門を開いて見れば、平らな砂漠も風が吹き乱れて蓬の根なども吹き巻かれて枯れて見える。とてもこのように寒い所へ来て苦労するからには、大功を立てて名を天下に上げたいものだ。なかなか生け捕りをするのを功名のように覚えて、それのみにかかっているのは恥ずかしいことだ。私はそのようなことにかかわらず、直ちに楼蘭王の首を斬って一国の御恩を報じ、忠義を立てようと思う》

夢裏分明に関塞を見るも、何れの路か金微に向かうを知らず
《注釈：女性の居る格子張りの窓へ斜めに月が差し込んで奥深くきらきらと見えて物寂しい折、寒そうにここかしこできりぎりすが美しく鳴くのを聞けばいっそう寂しくなって夫のことを思い出し、涙が衣を濡らす。夫を思うにつけて夢の中にありありと夫のいる関塞を見て夫に会ったように思われるが、女の身なれば行こうはずもなく道も知らないのに、どこから金微に向かって行ったのか、道も知らないのに不思議なことである》

Another (Continuation of Song of the Frontier Fortress)
Northern snow drifts and opens Yanmen Pass, level sands swirl chaotically rolling tumbleweed roots
I'm ashamed to count captured prisoners as merit; I'll directly behead the Loulan [king] to repay the nation's grace
《Commentary: Since this is a frontier fortress, wind and snow drift down from the north, so when we open the gate of the Yanmen garrison and look out, we see the flat desert with wind blowing wildly, rolling the roots of artemisia plants that appear withered. Since we've come to such a cold place and endure hardships, we should achieve great merit and raise our names throughout the realm. It's quite shameful to think of taking prisoners alive as merit and focus only on that. I won't concern myself with such things - I'll directly cut off the head of the Loulan king to repay our nation's grace and establish loyalty》

Slanting moonlight creates deep radiance through the jade window, listening to cold crickets brings sorrow, tears moisten my clothes
In dreams I clearly see the frontier pass, but know not which road leads toward Jinwei
《Commentary: The moon shines slantwise through the latticed window where the woman dwells, glittering deep inside, creating a melancholy scene. When she hears crickets chirping beautifully here and there in the cold, she becomes even more lonely and thinks of her husband, tears moistening her clothes. As she thinks of her husband, she vividly sees in her dreams the frontier pass where he is stationed and feels as though she has met him, but being a woman she has no way to go there and knows no path. Yet somehow she traveled toward Jinwei - it's mysterious that she doesn't know the way》
