現代語訳
《割書：今夜は空も晴れたので月さえ現れ、星も少なく、霜は野に満ちる夜更けの時分、胡（異民族）の者たちがこの月夜を狙って氈車に乗り、中国国境の陰山あたりに宿営して中国を侵そうと武器を鳴らしている。これというのも都に昔の李広将軍のような良い大将がいないためで、これを知って単于の胡族どもが公然と大胆に中国を憚らず、胡笳などを吹き立てて馬に草などを食わせて中国を侮っている。良い大将があれば威に恐れるだろうが、良い大将がいないのは残念なことである。○「公然」の字の中に胡笳のことを含んで言うのである》

《Commentary: Tonight the sky has cleared, so even the moon appears, with few stars visible, and frost fills the fields. In the depths of night, the barbarians (non-Chinese peoples) take advantage of this moonlit night, riding in felt-covered wagons and camping around Mount Yin near the Chinese border, rattling their weapons with intent to invade China. This is because there are no good generals in the capital like the ancient General Li Guang. Knowing this, the Chanyu's barbarian tribes openly and boldly show no fear of China, playing their reed pipes called hujia while letting their horses graze, thus showing contempt for China. If there were a good general, they would fear his authority, but the absence of such a general is regrettable. ○The character "openly" includes reference to the hujia within its meaning》
