現代語訳
蛇鱗は一心の真心が通じたのか、この度は何の雲もなく佐州（佐渡）へ渡り、念力が通って双子岩のほとりに到着した。そこで人里離れた森の中から山賊と見える化け物どもが現れ出て、蛇鱗を捕らえ、衣類も剥ぎ取り、その上、男色の契りを結ぼうなどと戯れたため、主従は詫びを入れたが聞き入れられなかった。

今はこれまでと覚悟を決め、先に進んだ化け物の肩先から腕にかけて袈裟懸けに噛みついた。「小癪な小化けめ」と一同憎らしがって互いに手足を噛み合えば、蛇鱗も一所懸命に千変万化に働いて、真っ向から噛みつき、車のように回転して噛みつき、向かってくる者を拝むように噛みついて奮戦したが、多勢に無勢で次第に手傷を負い、危うくなった。

英語訳
Perhaps because Jarin's sincere devotion reached the heavens, this time he crossed to Sashu (Sado Province) without any obstacles, and through the power of his prayers, he arrived at the vicinity of the Twin Rocks. There, from within a forest deep in the mountains, monster-like bandits appeared and captured Jarin, stripping off his clothes and attempting to force him into homosexual relations. Though master and servant pleaded for mercy, their pleas were not heeded.

"You impudent little monster!" the group cursed hatefully, and as they bit each other's hands and feet, Jarin also fought desperately with all his might, transforming in countless ways—biting straight on, spinning like a wheel while biting, and biting those who approached in a praying manner. However, being outnumbered, he gradually sustained injuries and found himself in grave danger.
