現代語訳
「天狗には女はいない」という理屈を聞き、「私どももそう思っていたのですが、お仲間になさいましたが、女に高慢があること、おびただしいこと、身の恥になさっておおきになさるのは少し怪しい」と迫られ、女のひいきと言われても恥ずかしい顔を赤くして「そういう事ではない」。
「それならお前と連れ立って見に出よう」と高い所より茶見世にいる女を見せ、まず娘から：「ころう」「じませう」「じいろのむく」「しろむく」ばかり三つ着て、赤いものは口紅にばかり。病気の助常の対面というみな何と高慢なものでございましょう。たばこにとくとお気をつけられましょう。最初は花より煙がいでまするが、のちは口より輪を吹きますと口上に従えば、天狗も呆れる。
