殿様はとかくサイコロの投げ方がお下手で、府中にてサイコロを振り給い、すぐに隣の丸子へ。双六は宇津ノ谷の十団子売り、人の女一人描いて一人。これは道中の高い名物、少しも違わぬように、との御意である。

殿様はサイコロの投げ方がお下手だと、今度は家老が投げた所が、丸子から三を振って島田金谷。双六は大水にて二日の逗留。水も出もしないのに二日の逗留。家老殿の持ちとは分からぬ所を振られたり。
伝え聞く、島田金谷の旅籠屋の娘、なますもる時、赤いものの皮と古歌にも詠んで、あれはと言うか、赤いものにも一つずつもめようと、若い者に一発まりと、両方一つにして、御簡略の御言葉が出る。
ああ面白い、輦台見物の話の種だ。家来どもこの地口はどうだ。なんと思やる、新しいサウダの肴を買うような事をおっしゃる。

Since the lord is poor at throwing dice, this time the retainer throws, and from Mariko he rolls a three to reach Shimada-Kanaya. The sugoroku shows a two-day stay due to flooding. Even though there's no flood, it's a two-day stay. The retainer has rolled to an unexpected place.
As the story goes, the daughter of the inn at Shimada-Kanaya, when serving namasu, sings an old poem about red-skinned things. Whether it's that or not, even with red things, they should quarrel one by one, and with one shot at the young men, combining both into one, the lord speaks words of simplification.
Ah, how amusing! It's material for stories about palanquin sightseeing. Retainers, how is this wordplay? What do you think - he speaks as if buying fresh sauda fish.
