【本文】
草津へ帰って殿様もすっかり負け腹を立てなさり、今度は二さえ振れば京へ上ると息巻いて泣けた所が、運悪く五が出て三つ余りて石部へ帰り、どうも京へは上られずと殿様は腹立たしく立って、無性に人を叱り散らし、家来もとんだ災難なれば、不祝儀京への登りと御足をさすってなだめけり。

幾度も帰っては、なかなか五十日や百日では京へは上られぬと、今は賭けごととして様々の事をして真力、仏力の利得か、良いやつと石部で三を振って草津、大津、京へ上り、まことに殿上した心持ち。良いやつとこの本も京で止め申し候。京恐惶謹言と腰付け止めにいたしました。

Returning to Kusatsu, the lord became thoroughly frustrated and declared that if he could just roll a two this time, he would go up to Kyoto. He was so agitated he was nearly crying, but unfortunately rolled a five, and with three remaining, returned to Ishibe. Unable to reach Kyoto at all, the lord stood up in anger and furiously scolded everyone around him. His retainers, finding themselves in an unfortunate situation, tried to calm him by massaging his legs, calling it an inauspicious ascent to Kyoto.

After returning so many times, it would certainly take fifty or even a hundred days to reach Kyoto. Now treating it as a gambling game and trying various approaches with all his might and perhaps through Buddhist merit, he finally got a good roll. Rolling a three at Ishibe, he proceeded through Kusatsu and Otsu to reach Kyoto, truly feeling like he had achieved court rank. Having finally reached this good outcome, this book also concludes in Kyoto. Written with humble respect in Kyoto, and concluded with this final seal.
