○怡顔斎（いがんさい）曰 熊谷（くまがへ）よりは
重薄し熊谷は花弁（くはべん）外（そと）へ
反（そり）て開（ひら）く児（ちご）桜は内（うち）へ抱（かゝ）へ
あり単（ひとへ）の小 輪（りん）白色（はくしき）にして
花 疎（まばら）につくもの也 洛西（らくさい）
仁和寺（にんわじ）二王門下 東側（ひかしがわ）に
一 株（ちう）あり花 小（ちいさく）して能（よく）
李花（りくは）に似（に）たり又これに似（に）て単弁（ひとへ）の
白色中輪なるものを殿桜（とのざくら）といふ

児桜（ちござくら）

○怡顔斎が言うには、熊谷桜よりも重ねが薄い。熊谷桜は花弁が外側に反って開くが、児桜は内側に抱え込むように咲く。一重の小輪で白色、花はまばらに付くものである。洛西の仁和寺二王門下の東側に一株ある。花は小さくて李花によく似ている。またこれに似て一重弁の白色中輪のものを殿桜という。

○Igansai says: It has thinner layering than Kumagai cherry. While Kumagai cherry opens with petals curving outward, Chigo-zakura blooms with petals embracing inward. It is a single-petaled, small-flowered white variety, with flowers growing sparsely. There is one tree on the east side below the Niō-mon gate at Ninna-ji temple in western Kyoto. The flowers are small and closely resemble plum blossoms. There is also a similar variety with single white petals of medium size called Tono-zakura (Lord Cherry).
