薄墨桜（うすずみざくら）

○鈍永曰 白桜（しろざくら）に似（に）て
花 小（ちいさ）く単弁（ひとへ）にして弁（はなびら）
細（ほそ）し色（いろ）白（しろく）茎（くき）葉（は）ともに
青（あを）く薄墨（うすずみ）のごとし
又 伊予国（いよのくに）和気郡（わけこほり）伊台（いだい）
村（むら）西方寺（さいほうし）の庭（には）に一 株（ちう）ある
よし同国（どうこく）の人に聞侍（きゝはべ）るに
花（はな）単（ひとへ）にして薄墨（うすずみ）色よりは濃（こ）く花弁（はなびら）
大 輪（りん）にて花さき尖（とがり）ありと云これ同 名（めい）
別種（べつしゆ）なるべし

薄墨桜（うすずみざくら）

○鈍永が言うには、白桜に似ているが
花は小さく一重咲きで花弁が
細い。色は白く、茎・葉ともに
青みがかって薄墨のようである。
また伊予国和気郡伊台
村の西方寺の庭に一株ある
とのこと。同国の人に聞いたところによると、
花は一重咲きで薄墨色よりも濃く、花弁は
大輪で花先が尖っているという。これは同名の
別種であろう。

Usuzumi-zakura (Light Ink Cherry)

○Ton'ei says: It resembles white cherry but
the flowers are small and single-petaled with thin
petals. The color is white, and both stem and leaves
are bluish like light ink.
Also, there is one tree
in the garden of Saiho-ji Temple in Idai
Village, Wake District, Iyo Province.
According to what I heard from people of that province,
the flowers are single-petaled and darker than light ink color, with large
petals that have pointed tips. This must be
a different variety with the same name.
