○怡顔斎（いかんさい）曰 重弁（やゑ）にして茎（くき）長（なが）く英（はなぶさ）垂（た）る
尤桐谷の八重斗也則桐谷の変化（へんくは）也色は
濃（こ）しかさねは桐谷より薄（うす）し盛（さかり）過（すぎ）て
散（ち）らず枝にしぼみ付也 全体（ぜんたい）の花は
諸花（しよくは）の中の富貴（ふうき）なるもの也ひらく事
遅（をそ）し桐谷の後（のち）にさく也又大江戸と
いふは花 法輪寺（はうりんじ）の茎（くき）のみじかきをいふ

○怡顔斎が言うには、八重咲きで茎が長く花房が垂れ下がる。まさに桐ヶ谷の八重桜のようで、つまり桐ヶ谷の変種である。色は濃く、花弁の重なりは桐ヶ谷より薄い。盛りを過ぎても散らずに枝にしぼみついている。全体として花は諸々の花の中でも豪華なものである。開花は遅く、桐ヶ谷の後に咲く。また大江戸というのは、法輪寺にある茎の短いものを指す。

○Igan-sai says: It has double petals with long stems and drooping flower clusters. It is exactly like the double-flowered Kirigayatsu, being a variant of Kirigayatsu. The color is deep, and the layering of petals is thinner than Kirigayatsu. Even after the peak blooming period, it does not scatter but withers while clinging to the branches. Overall, among all flowers, this is one of the most luxurious. It blooms late, flowering after Kirigayatsu. What is called "Dai-Edo" (Great Edo) refers to the variety with short stems at Hōrin-ji temple.
