尤色は桜色といふものにて莟（つぼみ）の時は
色 紅（あか）し開（ひら）けば少し薄（うす）く茎（くき）は青（あを）し

まさに色は桜色というもので、蕾の時は色が赤く、開けば少し薄くなり、茎は青い。

○怡顔斎が言うには、江戸桜の上品なものである。八重咲きで大輪、開花は江戸桜より遅い。花弁の重なりは厚く、茎は長い。この花で茎の短いものを、すなわち大江戸という。大江戸と法輪寺は全く同じ品種である。

英語訳

The color is exactly what is called "sakura-iro" (cherry blossom color), being red when in bud, becoming slightly lighter when it opens, and the stem is blue-green.

○Igan-sai says: This is the refined variety of Edo cherry. It has double petals and large blooms, flowering later than Edo cherry. The layering of petals is thick, and the stems are long. The variety of this flower with short stems is called "Dai-Edo" (Great Edo). Dai-Edo and Hōrin-ji are exactly the same variety.
